ESPN Monday Night Football color analyst Jon Gruden mentioned on HBO Real Sports. He spent a lot of “MNF”‘s game between the Eagles and the Patriots talking up the West Coast Offense, how voluminous the Andy Reid playbook is, and how much he loves it.
Gruden: “I’m trying to figure out where I’m going. If the right opportunity presents itself, I will come back.”
Gruden, who turned 49 a week ago, struggled to find a quarterback who would stay healthy and produce after he benched Brad Johnson. Gruden, once seen as a quarterbacks guru like his brother Jay in Cincinnati, started quarterbacks Brian Griese, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, Tim Rattay, Jeff Garcia, Luke McCown, and Brian Griese again before Jon was fired in early 2009.
After soundly thumping his old Raiders team 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVII, his Tampa Bay Bucs teams missed the postseason 3 times, and he was 0-2 in the two postseason appearances in those subsequent 5 seasons.
