Titans meeting to discuss Mike Munchak's fate

The Nashville Tennessean reports Titans CEO Tommy Smith will meet with coach Mike Munchak and GM Ruston Webster on Friday morning to discuss their futures with the franchise.
Beat writer Jim Wyatt wrote Thursday that Munchak's status remains "in limbo," and things could go "either way." Munchak has coached the Titans the past three seasons, managing a 22-26 record with zero playoff appearances. Webster went out and blew a bunch of cash on free agents last offseason only to see the team manage seven wins behind Ryan Fitzpatrick's quarterbacking for much of the year. In-season reports had the Titans' front office unhappy with the coaching staff veering away from a run-heavy offensive scheme in favor of a pass-first spread, even though it was installed to complement Fitzpatrick's strengths. We should have a clue on Munchak's job status by Friday afternoon.

The extension offered to Munchak was muilple years - at least two - if he would make more than a dozen staff changes. No go.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Titans are interested in Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell to fill their head-coaching vacancy.
Per Rapoport, the interest is mutual. The Titans fired Mike Munchak on Saturday evening and have yet to formally reach out to potential candidates. But early indications are that Tennessee is interested in both Bevell and Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt. Bevell has also drawn interest from the Vikings and Redskins. Vanderbilt coach James Franklin may also be on the Titans' radar.

pa bio je skroz ok ove godine...
1100y istrcanih, oko 350 uhvacenih i ukupno 10 TD...sta ces vise,posebno kakav je tim...

Potpuno si u pravu...on je imao sasvim solidnu sezonu sve ukupno 10TD nije malo...ali se prica da ce Titans-i da ga pedaliraju...samo ne znam koga imaju u planu da ga zameni.

Nije on nesto mnogo izgubio na brzini...nije mozda brz kao prve dve tri sezone ali i dalje jurisa kao lud...a i dobra stvar sto mnogi zaboravljau covek svake sezone odigra sve utakmice nikad nema povreda...

Može on još lepo da posluži. Kontam da deluje da je podbacio zato što je Tenesi bio osmišljen kao run ekipa a posle povrede Lokera došao je Amiš koji više voli da baca nego leba da jede.

Sest uzasponih sezona sa preko 1000+ yds....tesko mu je naci neku zamerku...da su svi ostali kao on.... 

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Titans owner Tommy Smith is "smitten with Seattle" that Seahawks DC Dan Quinn is expected to be a finalist for Tennessee's head-coaching vacancy before he even interviews.

Ken Whisenhunt didn't have to wait long to get a new job.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Whisenhunt has agreed to become the next Tennessee Titans head coach, according to a source informed of the negotiations. The news came only 24 hours after the San Diego Chargers' season ended in Denver. Whisenhunt was the Chargers' offensive coordinator for one season.

Whisenhunt was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for six seasons, from 2007 to 2012, taking them to the Super Bowl after the 2008 season.

Ray Horton is leaving Cleveland for Tennessee.

Horton has accepted the Titans’ defensive coordinator job, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. As we noted earlier this week, Horton was believed to be new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt’s top choice. Horton was also Whisenhunt’s defensive coordinator in Arizona in 2011 and 2012.

The 53-year-old Horton has long been a well-regarded defensive coordinator, as well as a head-coaching candidate. He interviewed for the Vikings’ head-coaching job this year but lost out to Mike Zimmer.

Horton has also been a secondary coach in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cincinnati and Washington. He was an NFL cornerback from 1983 to 1992, with the Bengals and Cowboys.
