Cardinals cut QB Brian Hoyer, source confirmed.

Hoyer did a remarkably competent job starting for the Cardinals in Week 17 last year. That created some overheated speculation that Hoyer could be a factor on this year's restricted free-agent market. Rapoport also reported the Cardinals shopped Hoyer around to teams, but apparently there were no takers.

The Cleveland Browns could be a possible suitor; GM Michael Lombardi has said positive things about Hoyer in the past. (Although it may not be his decision to make.) The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly wanted to sign Hoyer earlier this offseason, but they have since picked up Bruce Gradkowski and drafted Landry Jones. We'd expect Hoyer to clear waivers, but sign with some team before long.

Arizona will enter camp with Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley on the depth chart at quarterback. For those scoring at home, that's two new guys, and the youngest holdover option. Kevin Kolb, Skelton and Hoyer are all gone. Sounds about right.

Free agent Titus Young's father says his
son has a brain disorder and needs help.
Richard Young took Titus out for coffee on
Friday, hours before Titus' latest arrest.
Titus then drove off in his car without
saying goodbye. "We knew that
something had happened to him or he
was locked up again," Richard said. "His
mind is not capable enough to go out and
deal with society because of this." Titus
supposedly suffers from a disorder caused
by his brain being compressed against the
front of his skull, and he hasn't been
taking his medication. Doctors told
Richard that treatment could take six
months or less. Maybe the sun will finally
shine on Titus, and he can get the help he
so badly needs.

• Was stopped in California for making an
illegal left turn, charged on suspicion of
DUI, and arrested hours later for
attempting to steal his own car from a
police impounding lot.
• Was arrested for suspected burglary,
and charged with resisting arrest and
assault on a peace officer.
So you're saying there's still a chance he
turns his career around.

Donovan McNabb said Monday he will retire a Philadelphia Eagle.

The former No. 2 overall pick out of Syracuse spent the last season out of football as an occasional NFL Network guest analyst and radio personality.

McNabb said on NBC Sports Radio Monday that the Eagles suggested Sept. 19 as a potential date for a ceremony. The Week 3 "Thursday Night Football" matchup on NFL Network would be apropos as Andy Reid, the man who drafted McNabb, will be making his return to Lincoln Financial Field with the Kansas City Chiefs.
